How to Analyse a Business Case

There are many steps to analysing a business case:
  • To identify the problems -  To identify the problems simply means to understand what the case study says and what seems to be an issue that could potentially be corrected.
  • Analyse the key issues - This means to look at the issues that were found in the case study and choosing the most pressing/relevant/important issues that need to be addressed. It also means to dissect the issues and try to understand as many aspects of it as possible.
  • Create solutions - once the issued are analysed it is expected to create a number of solutions to the issues in order to give the business an option of what path they might want to choose in order to solve the issues.
  • Analyse solutions by finding advantages and disadvantages - once the solutions are created they also have to be analysed and given the list of advantages and disadvantages of each solution. This happens so that the business is more or less fully aware of potential drawbacks to any of the solutions they might choose to undertake.
  • Identify the best solution - After analysing the possible solutions, it is expected to offer the best possible solution for the business from the case analyst's point of view. Of course the client will not have to comply to this solution however it is advised that they follow this final solution.
  • Write a case analysis report - after all of the above, an analytical summary should be written which states what the issue was, what suggestions were made, what was the ultimate suggestion and what should be expected in case the advised solution is actually used.
