According to the case study E-Bay was the largest online business. This article discussed different aspect of the business in order to improve our understanding of what it is and how it functions. We also looked at how it used media to grow and continues to use it. Its growth and establishment reminds me of the process of “MacDonaldisation”.  We also discussed the assignment and its submission. I was relieved to hear that our group assignment deadline was at midnight instead of 5pm.

Due to some complications and a fault of my own we had to film things very last minute. My section was filmed on 19^th April and everyone else will film their part today. After which I will be able to edit the video and then send it out to everyone. Sadly my computed decided to act up and I was not able to access anything on my laptop, thanks to my uncle and his directions I was able to open it up and tweak some things that were loose (apparently) although I lost most of my work I am now able to use my laptop properly again. I did lose all my previous work however whatever I had sent to my team on Whatsapp – I was able to recover it and build up on it. In general I am disappointed with the amount of information I was able to bring to the table. If I had my original script I would have no regrets. However I do not have it and all of my law textbooks were returned already and I couldn’t do too much of a deep research at such late notice. I did incorporate some things that I do remember from my previous work. But I wish I had my original script.

Still there is no sign of Rihanna; I hope she makes it to today’s recording so she can also get the grade with us. But well. we’ll see how that goes.

Overall so far I am not sure how i'm actually coping with this module. I do not know or understand a lot of things in regard to technology. Sometimes I struggle sometime I don't.

Even though I am the one doing most of the work for my group I feel like I’m not contributing enough due to the fact that I’m not able to attend all the meetings even when I say I’ll try my best to go to the meetings, I’m not always able to show up due to my workload or exhaustion sometimes both or family constraints.

During this holiday I was able to show up to the meeting once and I was late however I did almost all the work that was done during the meeting and I started to allocate sections to people. In the end Mahnoor and I ended up giving sections to people to complete and in order to have the record I asked Mahnoor to send allocated sections with names to our Whatsapp group chat.

We all expressed our concerns about one of our teammates, since she almost never showed up to our meetings, claiming she was always ill. We did allocate task for her too but she never actually got back to us about it. At this rate I have a feeling that she might not even come to film the presentation with us and one of the other teammates will have to pick up the slack.

I am in charge of Data Protection Issues, Solutions and the conclusion. I love law and I cannot wait to start my research and bring my external knowledge into this presentation.

What-if Analysis, Pivot tables and journal

In this seminar we looked at pivot tables, to be entirely honest this work got me really confused since this is also called what if analysis, I don’t fully understand whether there’s difference between the works we’ve done for week 7 and week 8.

In order to address this issue I will put more time into understanding what we did for the last 2 weeks and try my best to differentiate them.

We also looked at the journal which spoke about Geographical Information System. Although this text was quite large for me, to me this text made more sense than the excel exercises.

We were able to arrange and attend the follow up meeting (I forgot to mention previously), the head of the division directly spoke with us, we did get a lot of information about the company, how its run, what they do exactly and their marketing, however he was not able to answer any of our technical questions, for this he referred us to a colleague of his back in Pakistan who is more involved in the technological side of the company. We were expecting a response by the end of last week but we didn’t hear from them. I hope to hear from them sometime later today. Other than that my team and I are working on improving and aligning the presentation. Well I am actually doing all that, I’m just simply asking them of their opinions.

This seminar has been about what if scenario in excel, such as what would happen to outcome if variable or variables change. To me this was a little bit more difficult of a task

Even though it seems that I am the leader of my group since I always take control and delegate, as well as making the actual presentation and coming up with most of the bullet points as well as issues and solutions, I feel as though I am not pulling my weight. In general I feel that my group is up to date with all of our work and I believe that we will be able to deliver good presentation.

LOOKUP & VLOOKUP Functions

Seminar Notes: The LOOKUP & VLOOKUP Functions

Upon arrival to the class we were given a handout on LOOKUP &VLOOKUP Functions on a handout. This handout directed us to use the Excel in order to organise large amount of data with their corresponding information throughout the spreadsheet. Later on the given formulae allowed us to find specific information such as shoe type by the given price or the given item number.

After this exercise was completed Mr. Haider Bilal inquired about our group progress on our presentation and the whole process of completing the assignment. We were given advice as to what steps we should take next and how.

I found these functions quite challenging and I believe I need to practice more in order to have a better understanding of them and to learn how to utilise them in a correct manner.

So far my group has the most progress out of all the other groups. We are already looking into the follow-up interview with HR Education LTD representatives in order to fill in any blanks and finalise some of our points. Everyone in my group is civil at this point but I can sense that some members care more about this project than others. I am satisfied with the work Mahnoor, Dzani and I have done, however my other teammates seem to lack in spirit. Since my spirit isn’t very vibrant at this this point due to workload (personal) and worsening sleeping pattern I do not feel motivated enough to motivate and drive others’ spirits. 

The work itself is not that challenging. But having teammates that don’t want to give 100% effort can be challenging.

Week 5 - IFs & Nested-IFs Functions

IFs & Nested-IFs Functions

I quite enjoyed today’s seminar since we were learning about the IF functions on excel. To me this was fascinating since I had never used this formula before. I enjoy excel activities. At first I found it difficult to keep up with the function and the typing of the formula, however after making one or two mistakes I realised what my mistakes were and how I could avoid making mistakes again. To me this seminar was very interesting and enlightening

Teamwork
As I suspected my mental state is affecting my work and my teamwork. When I am surrounded by my team I feel energetic and I tackle most/if not all problems my team is facing with ease. But when I am left alone with my workload I find it extremely difficult to concentrate on my tasks and properly complete them.

However my two of my teammates are pulling their weight and they actually managed to arrange a meeting with our company representative and one of them was even able to attend the interview. This interview was recorded and listened to by all our team members. We then created the actual presentation with bullet points and rough ideas as to what it should look like in the end.

Week 4 - YouTube - Watch & Share

During this seminar YouTube was discussed immensely. The case study entailed most of the information about YouTube that is feasible online. To me this particular topic was not as interesting, since I do not really have any particular interest in YouTube.

After reading the case study we did have to answer couple of questions, I liked the last question the most which was in regard to the dangers that could arise for it if all content is user-generated – to me this question was very stimulating since I believe it is a good question for a discussion. This is because I see both drawbacks and benefits of user-generated content. But in order to avoid legal and ethical issues I believe that YouTube is doing the right thing by monitoring the content that is uploaded.

Teamwork

As I mentioned in my previous blog, my team has decided to talk about a company called HR Education LTD since one of our teammates' father is the division director for that company in UK. This means that we can have easier and more unbiased access to the information that we will need for our presentation.
I personally have reservations toward two of my teammates. However I am happy to be working with Dzani and Mahnoor.
I am a perfectionist and lately I have been quite tired due to the amount of workload and time constraints since I have multiple jobs alongside university. I hope I can finish this presentation without it being negatively affected by my work and lack of sleep.

In general I have a good feeling about this project.
